- Sciatica is a pain that originates in the hip and buttocks and travels all the way down the leg. The leg pain is a form of numbness or weakness that starts in the low back and travels down the sciatic nerve in the leg causing sciatica pain. A herniated disk, also referred to as a slipped disk, is a common factor for severe back pain and sciatica. It may also be caused by irritation of the root(s) of the lower lumbar Sciatin drops.
